Front month lean hog futures are in the red with triple digit midday losses. June futures are down the limited $3 at midday. USDA’s National Average Base Hog price was $1.42 higher to $101.16. WCB prices were $103.40. The CME Lean Hog Index was up another 32 cents on 4/13, to $102.70.

Pork export bookings during the week ending April 8 were just 17,229 MT, for a 15 week low. USDA reported pork exports during the week at 38,573 MT, mostly to China (32% of total).

Pork cutout futures are also sharply weaker, down the limit in May contracts. USDA’s National Pork Carcass Cutout Value was reported at $114.92, after a sharp $4.83 increase. USDA estimated the week’s federally inspected hog slaughter through Wednesday at 1.452 million head That is up from 1.301m head LW.
